I strongly recommend not enabling HomeKit security. On my Alien, I’ve enabled IPv6, DFS, and set the priority for all HomePods as streaming devices. Thankfully I’m not experiencing device drops, so it’s not that big of a deal for me.įYI, my node in all three cases is wired backhaul. I like to periodically peruse an off-line list to see what requires troubleshooting. My only complaint on the Alien is the absence of an off-line list. So, for my particular combination of devices, topography, etc, the Alien is working great for me. I’m still suffering from some of the HomeKit issues I think many of us are suffering from, but I attribute these few remaining issues mostly to Apple’s HomeKit architecture because the good news is that none of my devices are disconnecting anymore. As an experiment, I then replaced my VELOPs with a pair of AmpliFi Aliens. To check my sanity, I then reverted back to the eeros and my problems recurred. ![]() Things seemed slightly better until I enabled the Linksys priority service on my non-Apple AirPlay2 device (preamp/processor), which significantly reduced dropouts for that device and other devices streaming simultaneously. In an effort to resolve, I replaced my modem, all of my switches, and ultimately I replaced my eeros with a pair of Linksys VELOP AX5300 for a few days. I also suffered from very frequent AirPlay2 audio stream drops. I was suffering from device disconnects, which in turn caused many of my scenes, automations, and shortcuts to fail. ![]() I started with a pair of eero Pro 5 and later upgraded to eero Pro 6. I hope my experience will help to inform yours…. I’m going through exactly the same process, but I’m a little bit further ahead than you. I also have a 2 Airport Expresses that I am using as 'wireless ethernet' for devices that do not have WiFi. The Airports are in bridge mode so the Asus is controlling everything. So I have the Airports broadcasting as a separate SSID with only the 2.4 GHz broadcasting. I found that the smart devices had problems connecting to the 2.4 GHz wifi. I ended up moving the Aliens to my dad's house who has like maybe 10 things on his network. I am WFH and could not be dealing with this. I would factory reset and they would work for a day. The Aliens worked well at first, then they started going to 100% on the processor and lose internet. I have a smart home so I have 55 items on the network. I have one on one side of the house and one in the middle. ![]() They were to replace 2 Airport Time Capsules. This is my experience with the Alien when they first came out.
